Weight Loss Motivation – What Will Help You Lose Weight?
When trying to lose pounds, you will need some weight loss motivation. Some people buy an outfit in a size smaller. Others promise themselves a trip to a Spa or a new piece of jewelery.
Anything that keeps you motivated is worth pursuing. Losing weight just for the sake of it doesn’t work for some people despite knowing that they will feel better and are likely to live longer.
When you are trying to lose pounds you need to review everything about your current life. Try and discover why you are carrying the extra weight. There is no point in saying that you eat too much. You need to ask yourself why you overeat.
Some of us use food as a comfort. When we are stressed we will eat more. If we are anxious or depressed or sad, it can lead us to the fridge or cupboard.
Keeping a food journal and noting not only everything you eat but how you feel will help you discover your weak points. You may eat due to boredom. A lot of people find that by keeping track, they realise that their cravings are often only in their head. Some people find that taking up knitting or similar activity while watching TV stops them snacking. What would work for you?
Join a weight loss class so that you have other people around you to keep you motivated. Some people find it useful to attend a weekly weigh in. If they have lost weight, the others will cheer them on. But if the scales go the other way, they will understand as they have probably been there at some point.
It is possible to do it alone if you prefer. You will need to re-educate your palate and have to change the type of foods you eat. There is no way you can continue eating the same foods from your past; and lose pounds. I’m sure you will have heard these suggestions before but that is because they work.
You need to increase your consumption of fruit and vegetables. They are low in calories yet provide you with vital nutrients and minerals. Eaten in sufficient quantities they will reduce your risk of stroke and other illnesses.
You should increase the amount of complex carbs in your diet as well. These carbs release glucose very slowly into your system, helping to keep your energy levels stable. You will also be fuller for longer. Examples of these carbs include brown rice, wholegrain or granary breads. Eat your carbs at the beginning rather than the end of your day.
Losing weight takes commitment and it will take time. Trying to lose pounds that you have gathered over a number of years within weeks is unrealistic. It is also not prudent to buy an outfit two sizes too small as even if you do lose the weight, the style may no longer suit you. It would be much better to save some money to buy a new outfit; after you lose the weight.
If you ask me, buying a new outfit would be more than enough weight loss motivation!
