A big thing to look for is moderation. That&#8217;s because the more wild fad diets tell you to eat as much of one food as like (cabbage soup, anyone?), avoid whole groups of foods (stay away from those carbs!), or both. Therefore, a good rule of thumb for finding a good diet is to see how moderate it is; not only in the foods you can eat, but also the quantity of the food you eat.</p>
<p>While the idea of gorging yourself on cheeseburgers, pizza and bacon may sound like the perfect diet. Low-carb eating plans aren&#8217;t all they&#8217;re cracked up to be. Sure, you may enjoy eating all of those foods, but the novelty will wear off sooner than you think. Not only that, but you will also crave carbohydrates like never before. Imagine not having ice cream, bread, certain vegetables or pasta. You might lose some weight at first, but once you can&#8217;t control your cravings, you will gain it all back (and probably more). </p>

Well, forget about those things and just do the right things. Basically, forgetting those foods that naturally produce excessive fats and trying to get the best recipes are two basic things to do. Try to make it fun in order to have more reasons on losing weight. If you use it regularly, you will definitely help your body burn more fats. The more ways you know on how to make every meal using healthy foods, the more exciting it can get. Then you will have better chances of getting the right amount of calories. It&acirc;s necessary that you give yourself a treat in every meal so that losing weight will not be monotonous and boring. Learn how to plan your meals so that you&acirc;re sure that you don&acirc;t eat more than what your body needs. Eat fresh and avoid preservatives as well as foods packed in special foils. There&acirc;s no better person to help yourself other than you.</p>

While some of the exercise equipment, supplements and eating plans may be good for you and might help, the truth is that you really don&#8217;t need any of it. All you need to do is eat better and move more, it&#8217;s not rocket science. When just starting out, walking for weight loss is a wonderful way to get started. </p>
<p>Before you start any type of exercise program make sure you talk to your doctor first. This step becomes even more crucial if you are already overweight, have underlying medical issues or just haven&#8217;t done much physically for a long time. Once your doctor gives you the thumbs up, get busy. </p>
<p>Walking is a great place to start for anyone at any fitness level, particularly those that are out of shape. It&#8217;s easy on your joints and it will allow you to build up to a much higher level. </p>
<p>You don&#8217;t need any special equipment, training or even a gym membership (you will need a good pair of shoes though so you don&#8217;t hurt your feet).</p>
<p>You can go for a walk all year, in cold weather climates many indoor shopping malls open early so walkers can come in and do some laps, this adds a social aspect to your daily walk too which means it starts to be fun and you will be much more likely to stay with it. </p>
<p>You can take your dog for a walk, you can go for a walk with your kids or grandkids, you can invite a friend to join you. There are a lot of things you can do to make your walks more fun and inviting.  </p>
<p>As your fitness level improves you can increase the intensity of your walks by increasing the distance you walk or stepping up your pace. You can even add hand or ankle weights to increase the intensity of your walk. </p>
<p>If you really want a challenge find some hilly terrain to walk on, walking up hills will really get your blood pumping!</p>
<p>With so many options and so many ways to make your walking more fun and get more benefit from the time you walk, it just makes sense to include walking into your overall fitness plan.</p>
<p>Of course, your exercise routine is only part of the whole picture, the things you put in your body will play a huge role in your overall weight loss success. Not only what you put in your body but how much you put in your body.  </p>
<p>Find someone who can help you figure out a healthy, well balanced food plan if possible. If you don&#8217;t have anyone who can help, go to your local library or online to find some cookbooks. There are hundreds of cookbooks that will provide you with heart healthy, low cholesterol, low carbohydrate recipes. Just find one that has recipes that are balanced, look good and that you think you will enjoy preparing. </p>
<p>Walking for weight loss is a great way to get started and with the many ways you can intensify your walking workout, you don&#8217;t have to stop when you are in better shape.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When it comes to losing weight most people need to do more than just cut calories, and I&#8217;m not talking about exercise (though that&#8217;s important too) I&#8217;m referring to the fact that cutting calories alone isn&#8217;t the answer for many people.  A lot of people actually don&#8217;t eat enough during the day, believe it or not.  Many people actually take in too many calories of the wrong types of foods but their overall daily intake isn&#8217;t what it needs to be.  Instead of cutting down on calories, although you may need to do that too, eat more foods that offer high levels of nutrition.  One way to get more healthy food into your diet is with a variety of weight loss shake recipes. </p>
<p>Here are a few recipes that you can try that will offer you a nutritious alternative to your other meals, they&#8217;re quick, easy and nutritious:</p>
<p>1.  Banana: Take 30 grams of vanilla protein powder, a banana, 8 oz&#8217;s. of soy milk (skim can work too if you prefer), a teaspoon of honey or syrup &#8211; not both, a drop or two of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of almond extract, and several ice cubes. Blend it together until it&#8217;s a smooth consistency.  Enjoy.  This no fat shake can give you a lot of energy and is great for any meal of the day. </p>
<p>2. Orange: two scoops of protein powder, 8 oz&#8217;s. O.J.,  a teaspoon vanilla extract, half of a banana, a few strawberries, a teaspoon of honey or syrup, several ice cubes. Blend until smooth.  Another great, low calorie shake!</p>
<p>3. Berry: You can use blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc.  Just blend a few varieties and see what you like.  Take two scoops of vanilla protein powder, about one cup of fresh berries, one cup of low fat milk and a cup of ice, a little honey or syrup if needed, blend, serve.  The fresh fruits in this shake will provide a lot of nutrients, not to mention great taste!</p>
<p>4. If you&#8217;re a fan of chocolate and peanut butter, you&#8217;ll love this one: two scoops of chocolate protein powder, 1 cup of low fat or soy milk, two tablespoons of low fat vanilla yogurt, a tablespoon of peanut butter, two tablespoons hazelnut coffee and about a dozen ice cubes, you can add a little ice cream topping to make it really special.  Blend, serve.  Yum!</p>
<p>There are probably hundreds of combinations of ingredients you can put together to make a low fat, nutritious shake.  The point is to have fun and experiment with different things to find something that you love. </p>
<p>With all the weight loss shake recipes available you should never get bored, you&#8217;ll always have plenty of variety.  Just be careful of the ingredients you use.  You should probably avoid sugar substitutes since there is some evidence to suggest that they may have detrimental long term effects on the body.  You can substitute pure sugar cane or honey to add a touch of sweetness without adding a ton of calories.</p>

If you have been looking for simple ways to lose weight, then chances are you have stumbled across a few fad diets, perhaps you have even tried a few. But there is only one way to shed those extra pounds: you have to burn more calories than you take in. One way to decrease how many calories you take in is by controlling your portions. Here are some tips to help you do just that.</p>
<p>The first thing you need to know is what a normal portion is for most of the foods you eat. You may be quite shocked to find out that you have been regularly eating three to four times the normal portion. For example, a serving of meat is considered to be 3 ounces, that works out to be about the same dimensions as a deck of cards. A serving of ice cream is a half cup, so if you eat a pint you will have consumed four servings. And that&#8217;s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. </p>
<p>Most of us will mindlessly fill our entire plate when we sit down to eat. We don&#8217;t really think about what we put on the plate, we just know that it should be full. Therefore, you can trick yourself into eating less by using smaller plates, cups and bowls when you eat. That way there will be less plate to fill. </p>
<p>You can also look to tricks used by restaurants to make your plate look fuller. A favorite is to use garnishes like thinly slice fruit, raw kale  and fresh parsley. These aren&#8217;t normally eaten, but they take up extra room and give the illusion of having more food on your plate.</p>
<p>If you put the healthiest foods on your plate first, then you will automatically limit how much of the less-than-healthy food you&#8217;ll have room for. For example, if you start by putting veggies on your plate, then a small salad, you will be forcing yourself to take a smaller portion of meat.</p>
<p>Did you know that the type of glass you put your beverages in makes a difference? This is nothing more than an illusion, but it ranks as one of the simple ways to lose weight. Taller, thinner glasses look like they hold more, so use those. If you&#8217;re having a cold drink, then fill the glass with ice first, then pour in your beverage. Yes, restaurants use this trick, too. </p>
<p>Only cook what you&#8217;ll eat. A lot of recipes are designed to feed a family of four, but if there are only two of you, or you&#8217;re on your own, then reducing those recipes will help to keep your portions under control. After all, you can&#8217;t eat more of a certain dish if there isn&#8217;t more there for you to eat.</p>
