			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was really surprised to find out that BMI was created in the 1800&#8242;s as it is only in the last couple of years that I have heard of it.  All of a sudden everyone seems to be relying on BMI to tell them whether they are overweight or not and as a guide in their weight loss journey.  BMI can&#8217;t actually help you lose weight, it is simply a measure of your weight in relation to your height.  Your BMI result will indicate whether you are in the right weight range for your height or whether you are under or over weight.</p>
<p>BMI is shortened for Body Mass Index.  It is a tool that measures body mass and has been around for 200 years.  BMI was created by Adolphe Quetelet and is sometimes referred to as the Quetelet index.  Adolphe Quetelet developed the BMI formula while working on social physics and it is still used today, 200 years later, with very little variation from it&#8217;s original form.</p>
<p>So we know that BMI measures body mass, but what does that actually mean?  Well, it doesn&#8217;t measure a person&#8217;s body fat, but rather it compares a person&#8217;s height to their weight to determine if they are in a healthy weight range for their height.  It is a tool that is widely used by doctors, fitness trainers and even insurance companies to determine whether a person is overweight or obese.  The BMI formula is not without it&#8217;s flaws and in some cases is not 100% accurate, but it is still the preferred tool used in the medical community.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at the formula used to calculate a persons BMI.  First you take your height in meters and square it &#8211; you times it by itself.  Then you divide your weight in kilograms by the answer to your height squared.  For example, if a person is 1.5 meters tall you would times 1.5 by 1.5 which will give you 2.25.  If that person weights 54 kilograms you would then divide 54 by 2.25 which gives you an answer of 24 and this is your BMI.  </p>
<p>What does that mean?</p>
<p>Your weight status is worked out by where it lies on the BMI chart.  A normal weight range has a BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9.  If your BMI is below 18.5 then this indicates that you are underweight.  Likewise if your BMI is in the range of 25 to 29.9 this indicates that you are overweight.  A BMI of 30 or more indicates obesity.  Using our example above of a person 1.5 meters tall and weighing 54 kilograms, they fall within the normal weight range at a BMI of 24.</p>
<p>I mentioned earlier that BMI figures are not accurate 100% of the time and this is mainly so with people that are extremely muscular.  The BMI formula doesn&#8217;t distinguish between muscle and fat and because muscle is much heavier than fat then the result is not accurate.  A body builder for example would have a large muscle mass and so his weight would be quite high when compared to his height.  This would give him a high BMI, although in actual fact he may not have an ounce of fat on his body.  For the majority of people though, BMI will give an accurate indication of whether you have a good weight for your height or not.</p>
<p>Next time you hear someone talking about BMI you will know exactly what they are talking about and could even tell them how it is calculated.  BMI is simply a comparison of a person&#8217;s weight to their height to determine whether they are in a healthy weight range.</p>

<p>Who is Vince DelMonte? Vince’s long road to becoming a skinny guy expert began in dream world, his high school name was “Skinny Vinny,” he dreamt of changing his physique from skinny to muscle mass.</p>

<p>As a teenager this seemed a farfetched dream, especially DelMonte’s background as a wire framed runner</p>

<p>When college came along Vince found himself mixing with well made guys who seemed genetically blessed with muscle building frames. Vince did not even have a six pack of any special notability; at his heaviest he could not even break the 150 lb barrier.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Although Vince lacked muscle mass he was extremely successful in his own right. As an excellent athlete he was built for running, he indeed ran for his university of Western Ontario. Vince was part of the Ontario track and field team and was a keen member of the school cross country team for all four years of his college days. In addition, Vince DelMonte actually represented his beloved country of Canada in triathlons.</p>
<p>Vince was very proud of his athletic and running achievements and rightly so, he did still continue to search for bigger muscles and to gain that six pack of rock hard abs. He then began his goal to get his body as ripped as he possibly could. In May of 2002, Vince ended his affiliation with the track and field and never looked back.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Vince no longer had the burden of the athletic requirements of staying thin and light in order to run the events he did so well at in his younger years, he craved muscle gain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>After he graduated from university with a kinesiology, DelMonte began his first steps by becoming a personal fitness trainer. Whilst he was good at his profession, he still dreamt of that muscle mass frame which he dearly wanted, and that would go on to change his life forever.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>During the first year of his famous transformation, DelMonte trained harder than he ever did before. Towards the end of that year Vince DelMonte has gained a fine amount of muscle mass, the six pack he craved for was starting to develop well. Vince DelMonte&#8217;s progress was certainly positive, but it soon stalled. For the following two years Vince DelMonte struggled to add any more rock hard muscle to his athletic body.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Worse was yet to come, he began to get fat not muscle, the firm six pack of abs slowly diminished and his middle became weak, his diet started to fail and he like so many before him was slain by the dreaded pizza and a lifestyle of beer and nachos took over. In the beginning of 2005, Vincent soon realized that if he did not address his issues he would now be known as being fat which was worse than being called skinny Vinny.</p>

<p>After some soul searching Vince DelMonte once again set out on his mission to create a body building physique that anyone would be proud of. In only 3 Months he worked his butt off and changed his body back to his 2002 physique. Vince was no longer able to to reach the 150 lbs mark although he was comfortable weighing 190 lbs.</p>

<p>Before I lay out the 3 simple steps to achieving six pack abs, I would like to tell you a story about a guy who trained like crazy, did all sorts of sit ups, crunches and curls, medicine ball workouts, weight lifting, you name it he did it, but you know what he never got his six pack and here is the reason why. He was going about it all wrong.</p>
<p>A lot of people are frustrated by not being able to get abdominal definition and I know how this feels as I personally struggled to achieve a nice six pack for years.</p>
<p>You know you are probably going to kick yourself when you finally see where this guy and most others go wrong in their vain attempts to chisel out that six pack. I know it hit me like a breath of fresh air when I suddenly saw the reason for most people&#8217;s failure, including my own.</p>

<p>Bewildered, confused, searching for truth? If this is you, then I would like to say that it is not really your fault.</p>

<p>The captains of industry know that they stand to make far more money from you if they sell you a half solution and not a complete cure.
