You might cringe or make funny face when eating grapefruit because of its bitter taste but the benefits are truly astounding. </p>
<p>Grapefruit has been proven effective when it comes to weight loss. It is also good for people with diabetes. Researchers believe that the connection between weight loss and grapefruit is that it lowers insulin level that is used to metabolize sugar. <p>If you have diabetes, your body cannot make or properly use insulin. This leads to high blood glucose, or sugar, levels in your blood. Healthy eating helps to reduce your blood sugar. It is a critical part of managing your diabetes, because controlling your blood sugar can prevent the complications of diabetes.</p>
<p>Thus, there is a need to choose your food wisely and carefully. The best way to do this is to devise a healthy diet plan where you can scientifically plot which food groups should be the most priority and the least priority. There is a general rule for this. Fruits and vegetables proven to increase insulin levels should be given a rightful place in the diet for Type 1 diabetes patients. This is done because diabetes is still on its onset and preventive measures can still be done. However, among adults who have Type 2 diabetes, the focus is more on achieving the ideal, normal weight and blood glucose levels. </p>

I will discuss about the secrets of weight lose for you to have an idea of what are needed to be done in a weight lose management. </p>
<p>1. The first secret is forgetting about what you know about diets. But is it possible to lose weight without any diet? Of course! In fact diets only create a bad eating habit that is why diets are not advisable to be used when wanting to achieve a healthy diet. Diets are not effective in weight lose because their goal is not to let you lose weight. Yes, it is true that after dieting, you lose weight but what is next. Notice that after a few days, you again start gaining weight. Dieting provides you with results which are for short term only and will not manage you for a long term.  Start your journey to a good health by making it a point that you eat a balanced diet with healthy foods every day. Consume only the amount which you are sure that your body is able to burn. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You may also know the Mayo Clinic 3 Day Diet as the Grapefruit Diet.  This diet is all about eating certain foods at particular times each day.  Each meal will include half a grapefruit which is where it gets the name &#8216;grapefruit diet&#8217;.  Although the diet is not actually endorsed by the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, the name of the Mayo Clinic 3 Day Diet still lives on.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at the three main meals of the Mayo Clinic 3 day diet.</p>
<p>Breakfast &#8211; For breakfast each morning you will have a black tea or coffee, half a grapefruit and bread with some protein.  For the bread and protein you could have toast with egg, toast with cheese or toast with peanut butter.</p>
<p>Lunch &#8211; lunch will also include protein and bread.  Some examples of lunch could be toast with a boiled egg, toast with 1/2 cup of tuna or cottage cheese on crackers.  You can also have a black tea or coffee with lunch.</p>
<p>Dinner &#8211; dinner is the most substantial meal of the day with this diet.  Day 1 dinner includes 3 oz lean turkey, 1 cup of carrots, 1 cup of green beans, 1 apple and 1 cup of vanilla ice-cream.  Day 2 dinner consists of 2 beef franks, 1 cup of cabbage or broccoli, 1/2 cup of carrots, 1/2 a banana and 1/2 cup of vanilla ice-cream.  Day 3 dinner includes 1 cup of tuna, 1 cup of cauliflower, 1 cup of carrots, 1 cup of melon and 1/2 cup of ice-cream.</p>
<p>Every meal should include 1/2 a grapefruit or 4 oz. of grapefruit juice.</p>
<p>The key to success with this diet plan is that you must drink at least 32 ounces of water a day.</p>
<p>There are a lot of people that swear by this diet and have said you can lose 6 points in the three days of the diet.  Here are some of the reasons why this diet is so effective.</p>
<p>1. The number of calories consumed is extremely restricted.  Even though the diet includes ice-cream every day you are still only eating around 1200 calories a day.</p>
<p>2. This diet helps to flush out your system and help you to lose a lot of water weight.</p>
<p>3. This is not a permanent weight loss.  This is a fast weight loss and if you go right back to your usual eating habits as soon as you finish the 3 days then you will put the weight back on.</p>
<p>So what is the point of dieting for 3 days if you are just going to put it back on?  This diet is great if you have an event coming up that you want to lose a few pounds for.  If you have a wedding, school reunion or want to fit into your skinny jeans to go to a concert, then this diet can help you to do that.</p>
<p>Although grapefruit is a vital part of the Mayo Clinic 3 day diet, there is no proof that it has any magical weight loss qualities.  Not everyone likes grapefruit and some people will substitute it for orange during the diet.</p>
<p>Grapefruit does however have 6 grams of fiber in half a grapefruit so when you are eating 3 servings of it a day then you are getting 18 out of the 25 grams of recommended daily fiber.  Diets that are high in fiber will help to flush out the system and assist with weight loss.  Grapefruit juice though does not have any fiber.</p>
<p>The Mayo Clinic 3 day diet can also be useful to kick-start a diet and give you a fast weight loss to begin your weight loss journey and when you finish the 3 days on this diet you can then move onto a healthy eating plan to lose more weight in a slower time period. <p>The low calorie sub options include: turkey, ham, ham and turkey, oven roasted chicken breast, veggie delight, turkey club and roast beef.  Then there is the sweet onion teriyaki chicken sub that is just over the calorie count at 370 calories but has just 5 grams of fat, so still a very good choice &#8211; and my personal favorite.</p>
<p>One mistake that some people make is that they think all Subway subs are low calorie and that they can order anything they like from the menu.  Not all of the subs are low calorie and there are some you should avoid if you are dieting such as the 6 inch tuna sub that has 530 calories and 31 grams of fat &#8211; and that is before you add any sauces or mayonnaise.</p>
<p>Subway also has some hot subs that should also be avoided if you are dieting.  The 6 inch toasted chicken parmesan, the toasted bacon and chicken ranch and the toasted meatball marinara all come in at 500 calories.  The meatball sub has 24 grams of fat.</p>
<p>You also need to keep in mind the size of the sub that you order.  Subway has the 6 inch subs and the foot long subs and the foot long subs are double the size and double the calories of the 6 inch subs.</p>
<p>Something else that you should watch out for on the Subway calorie counter is the double versions of subs.  For example, the double meat turkey sub has 340 calories while the regular version has just 280 calories, so by ordering the double version you are increasing your calorie intake.</p>
<p>With Subway subs you also get to choose the type of bread you want for your sub and this can also make a difference to the number of calories.  The white bread sub has 190 calories by itself but if you choose one of the deluxe breads &#8211; honey oat and parmesan oregano &#8211; this will increase the calories by 50 &#8211; 60 calories.</p>
<p>When you add cheese to the sub it also increases the calories.  Cheese is a standard ingredient on the subs however it is represented separately on the Subway calorie counter and will add another 40 to 50 calories on a 6 inch sub.</p>
<p>Mayonnaise is another big calorie addition and it can add 110 calories for a normal serving while some condiments such as mustard has barely any calories.</p>
<p>If you are having Subway for breakfast you also need to choose wisely.  The breakfast subs range from 270 to 510 calories and you are best to stick to the egg and cheese on a deli roll or perhaps the honey mustard and ham on a deli roll.  You want to stay right away from a sub such as the chipitole steak and cheese on a 6 inch roll as that is on the higher end of the calorie scale.</p>
<p>Subway also sell other foods including cookies, chips and sodas which all come high in calories so although these may be tempting you should avoid them.  Subway does feature the Baked Lays brand of chips which has around 110 calories a serving so they aren&#8217;t too bad.</p>
<p>Subway is a great option for those who want a healthy alternative to fast food as long as you use the Subway calorie counter wisely.</p>
